Brine & Barnacle Boiling Co. was established in 2022 by Rachel and James Galvin, two passionate food lovers raised on the rugged shores of Nova Scotia.
In their home province, it is a long standing tradition to gather around steaming pots of fresh lobster and crab, boiled simply in ocean water and shared among family and friends. After relocating to Metro Vancouver, Rachel and James quickly noticed a gap. There were few opportunities to experience this quintessential East Coast ritual.
Inspired to bring a taste of Atlantic Canada west, they founded Brine & Barnacle to share one of the Maritimes’ most cherished pastimes. Gathering around a table, cracking shells, and enjoying great food, conversation, laughter, wine, and lobster.
Today, that tradition continues under the care of the Cross family. With family roots also on the East Coast, over a decade of experience in restaurants and event planning, along with a deep appreciation for the seafood boil experience, they are proud to carry the vision forward. Their focus is on creating authentic, long table seafood boils that capture the spirit and hospitality of Eastern Canada, right here in Metro Vancouver.

Our guests were blown away by the service and attention to detail this team showed throughout the event. Something as simple as making sure shells were taken care of, garlic butter was always topped up, and clean up was all taken care of. We had 25 people confirmed and most people went away with left overs. Truly an original and fun concept to bring to the West Coast and I would highly recommend.
